Tips For People Moving From Dubai To Abu Dhabi
Are you looking to move to Abu Dhabi from Dubai? You may have gotten a new job, or you are probably just looking for a change of pace. The move from one city to another can be quite stressful, even if you have done it before. There is just so much to do, like disconnecting your DEWA account, changing forwarding addresses, and choosing the right house packers and movers in Abu Dhabi.
For your benefit, MoversUp has made a checklist that will help you make better-informed decisions. Especially if it is your first time, so here are all the things you need to know before moving to Dubai from Abu Dhabi.
Buying the right property
The most important thing is that your property must be worth the move. Your decision, while buying your property would impact your entire family. It would be best if you made sure there are good schools nearby, what the traffic is like, the accessibility to highways and public transport systems, and how close is the location to your workplace.
However, if you are a Bachelor’s, it is best to get an apartment as close to work as possible. The commute can often be extremely tiresome and time-consuming. A single person only needs a 1-bed apartment and someone with a small family, let’s say 2 children, would require 2 bedrooms.
For people who want something affordable yet spacious, Villas are the best option. So try to do some research before deciding what is best for you and most convenient. MoversUp house movers in Abu Dhabi can help you move to any location you need.
Cancel Your Dewa account
The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority or DEWA must be one of the first things you should cancel. DEWA is the only electricity and water supply company in the Emirates. If you fail to cancel your DEWA account, you will continue to receive bills even after vacating your home.
However, if you are changing locations within the city, you can simply transfer your DEWA account to your new residence. But moving out of the city requires complete cancellation of their services.
We recommend canceling your DEWA account a week before leaving. You can do this online or in person. I will explain both ways in more detail:
AT the Customer Happiness Centre
All you need is a copy of your last DEWA bill and your passport or Emirates ID. After getting these documents, you must head toward your nearest DEWA customer care center. Here you will need to fill out a form, after which you will receive your final bill in a couple of days, sometimes more. Simply pay the bill and collect your security deposit.
Online disconnection on the DEWA website
Once you have cleared your payments, you can disconnect your account online as well. Just follow these steps;
- Give your mobile number and select the date of the move
- Select a payment procedure
- A number or code will be sent to you by text message and email.
Disconnecting large meters requires a payment of AED300 and a small disconnecting a small one AED100.
Obtain a moving permit
Certain buildings in Dubai require you to get a moving permit from the building developer or management. For example, Emaar’s move-out a permit is required for buildings in Downtown Dubai, Dubai Marina, The views, and some areas nearby.
Moreover, you will need to submit documents such as a copy of your passport and visa. Also, your tenancy contract, before you get your move permit.
Get a moving company
If you are making a move out of the city, then you should hire a professional house packers and movers company in Abu Dhabi. MoversUp is excellent house packer and movers for Abu Dhabi. Hiring a movers company will give you peace of mind, and you can focus on other important things.
A flexible moving company
The best house movers in Abu Dhabi are also the most flexible ones. MoversUp has a 24-hour trucking service, which means that we can fit into your schedule. This makes moving more convenient and easier. Everyone has a schedule to adhere to, and in the modern world, time is money.
Get movers insurance
This is not that common, but accidents can occur during such a long move. Certain things, such as electronics and chinaware, can be quite fragile. Packing and unpacking, as well as transportation, can have damaging consequences for certain things. So you should hire someone who provides an insurance policy as well. Better safe than sorry!
Choose a mode of transport
After everything is done and dusted, your next step is getting into Abu Dhabi. The most preferred mode of transport is, of course, your private vehicle. However, not everyone has their car. People who do not have their cars rely on Dubai’s vast public transport system.
You can get a taxi at around AED250 to AED300. The taxi service is probably the quickest and most comfortable way of getting into Abu Dhabi. However, if you are looking for a cheaper option. Then, you can opt for Dubai’s intercity bus services.
There are different spots you can go to for pickups such as E100 and E101. Make sure that you have your NOL card. If you already have this card, then make sure that there is a balance in it.
